ClickUp is a strong, general-purpose project tool — whiteboards, chat, goals, dashboards, built for any kind of team. Bridge Playbooks is narrower on purpose: task management fused to the actual signed SOW, with delivery intelligence a generic board doesn't have. Keep both connected, or move delivery onto Bridge entirely — this page is honest about what each choice costs you.
Where ClickUp still wins
Honest list:
- Whiteboards, chat, goals, and dashboards — Playbooks has none of them. ClickUp's breadth beyond task execution — docs, whiteboards, team chat, goal tracking, custom dashboards — has no Playbooks equivalent. If your team runs marketing, engineering, or anything beyond client delivery through ClickUp too, Bridge isn't replacing that.
- Works everywhere, including your phone. ClickUp's apps run full-featured on mobile. Playbooks' Delivery Timeline — the drag-based Gantt with critical path built in — is desktop-only today; on a phone it falls back to table and kanban views.
- Cheaper if all you need is a board. ClickUp Unlimited is $7/user/month. Playbooks is a flat add-on, but it requires an active Planner subscription on top of Bridge Team — for a single-purpose task board with no client-delivery ambitions, ClickUp's entry price is lower.
Where Bridge wins
Where a generic board doesn't know what you actually sold:

Kickoff materializes a published playbook onto the engagement and right-sizes it to what was actually sold — then you confirm before anything goes live. Nothing silent-applies to real work. ClickUp starts every engagement from a blank List or a generic template someone has to rebuild by hand.

A Gantt that knows what else is going on
Drag a bar to reschedule, resize its edge to adjust the due date, drag between bars to add a dependency — and the critical path renders directly on the same timeline, recalculating live as you move things, with locked items like invoiced milestones respected. RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) is derived automatically from tasks, meetings, and that same dependency graph, not a manual log. ClickUp's Gantt is a comparable drag surface on its own; it isn't wired to a critical-path engine, a RAID register, or the SOW the work belongs to.

Won't let you staff someone who isn't allocated
Assign a dated task to someone whose allocated hours don't cover those weeks on the engagement, and Bridge blocks the save with a hard error — not a warning, not a silent overbook. It's how staff end up quietly over-committed in most tools; Bridge catches it at the point of assignment instead of three weeks into a burned-out delivery lead's sprint.
Versioned methodology, not one person's memory
Author phases, deliverable SKUs, and task templates once, publish an immutable version, and every engagement runs the approved method instead of whoever's running it this time rebuilding the plan from scratch. Starter packs (consulting, change management, Agile/Kanban/Scrumban, and others) give you a real one to adapt instead of starting blank — and estimates are calibrated from your own delivery history, with sample-size honesty instead of a guess.
ClickUp is cheap for pure task tracking — $7–12/user/month. Playbooks isn't a substitute at that price: it's a flat add-on that also requires an active Planner subscription, so the honest comparison is ClickUp's per-seat bill against Planner + Playbooks stacked, not against Bridge Team alone.

Two paths, and you don't have to pick one before you start — keep ClickUp connected for time tracking while you try Playbooks, then decide.
- Keep ClickUp connected (optional). Settings → Time Tracking → ClickUp → Connect. Bridge keeps reading time entries from your mapped Lists into SOW SKUs whether or not you move task management over.
- Start a Playbooks trial. 14 days, methodology authoring, delivery plans, task management, and AI-assisted work plans included. Requires an active Planner subscription.
- Adopt a starter pack or author your own. Pick a starter playbook (consulting, change management, Agile/Kanban/Scrumban, and others) or build your own phases, deliverable SKUs, and task templates, then publish a version.

Who should pick which
Pick ClickUp if: task management is only part of what your team runs through ClickUp — whiteboards, chat, goals, dashboards — or you want the lowest per-seat price for a general-purpose board with no client-delivery ambitions.
Pick Bridge if: delivery should stay tied to the actual signed SOW, you want RAID, critical path, and calibrated estimates a generic board doesn't have, or you're ready to run task management in the same system as the agreement and the invoice.
A note from the founder
I used to point people at ClickUp for task management and mean it — it's good, and Bridge wasn't trying to compete with it. That's changed. Playbooks is live now, and it does something ClickUp was never going to: turn the actual signed SOW into a work plan, instead of a blank board someone has to fill in by hand every time.
ClickUp still wins if your team runs marketing, engineering, or anything else through it that has nothing to do with a client SOW — whiteboards and goals and dashboards aren't things I'm trying to rebuild. But if the board only exists to track client delivery, I don't think you need two systems for that anymore.
Keep ClickUp connected while you decide, or don't — Playbooks doesn't ask you to choose on day one.
